The DLM-2120SP is the later self propelled machine in Echo’s 56V walk behind
line, and it is the one built around convenience features rather than raw
specification. Intelligent power delivery, an integrated mulch door,
HeightCommand powered deck adjustment, a 3-in-1 cutting system with the side
discharge chute included and an LED headlight all point at the same thing:
fewer stops and less kneeling next to the machine.

The Integrated Mulch Door

This is the feature that changes the way the mower is used. On a conventional
3-in-1 deck, switching from mulching to bagging means stopping, pulling the
mulch plug out of the discharge tunnel, finding somewhere to put it, and fitting
the bag. Most people avoid that by picking one mode at the start and living with
it for the whole lawn. The DLM-2120SP has a door built into the deck instead, so
the change happens without a plug and without a tool. In practice you mulch the
main lawn, meet a patch that has grown away from you or a bed edge where
clippings would look untidy, switch to bagging for that section, and switch back.
The mowing pattern follows the lawn rather than the equipment.

HeightCommand Powered Deck Adjustment

Cutting height is changed at the touch of a button rather than by hauling on
a spring loaded lever. Height adjustment is one of those jobs that is easy to
skip, and skipping it is how lawns get scalped in dry weather and left too long
in growth. When the adjustment is a button on the handle, it gets used mid mow:
raised over a hump, dropped again on the flat, lifted a step for a dry spell.
That is what powered height control actually buys you, not the effort saved on
any single adjustment.

How It Differs From the DLM-2100SP

Both are 56V, 21 in., self propelled and fitted with an LED headlight and
folding handles, so on paper they look like the same machine a year apart. The
separation is in how you interact with them. The DLM-2100SP is adjusted by hand:
a seven position lever for height and a mulch plug for discharge mode. The
DLM-2120SP moves both of those onto the machine, with HeightCommand doing the
deck and the integrated mulch door doing the discharge. It also publishes a
longer run time figure, up to 75 minutes. If you mow one lawn one way every
week, the DLM-2100SP does that perfectly well. If your property has a front lawn
you want bagged and a back lawn you want mulched, or if the height needs to
follow the season, the DLM-2120SP removes the friction that makes people stop
bothering.

Intelligent Power Delivery

Rather than running the blade motor at one fixed speed, the DLM-2120SP
manages power to suit the load. Light, dry, evenly grown grass does not need
full output, and running at full output anyway simply burns charge. Managing the
delivery means the reserve is there when the deck meets thicker growth and is
not being wasted on the easy ground either side of it. That is where the up to
75 minutes of run time comes from: not from brute capacity, but from not
spending it where it is not needed.

3-in-1 Cutting and the Included Side Discharge Chute

The machine mulches, bags and side discharges, and the side discharge chute
is supplied. Side discharge is the setting people forget they have, and it is
the right answer to an overgrown lawn after a wet fortnight: the clippings are
thrown clear rather than recirculated, so the deck does not pack and the motor
is not fighting a wad of wet material. Mulching remains the correct default for
regular cutting, since chopped clippings drop into the sward and feed it.

Storage and Setup

The handles fold for compact storage, and as a battery machine it can be put
away without draining fuel, stabilising it or worrying about a carburettor over
winter. It runs on the Echo 56V system, so packs and chargers are shared with
the rest of the range rather than being specific to the mower.
