Description

BCS Swivel Rotary Plow with Left or Right Discharge

The swivel rotary plow is the two-headed version of BCS’s rotary plow. It carries two plowshares, one set to throw soil to the right and one to the left, and a lever at the rear swaps between them at the end of each pass. That lets the operator work back and forth across a slope, always throwing soil uphill, or build a bed from both sides without turning the tractor around the far end.

Built for Slopes and Tight Spaces

BCS designed this plow for hillsides, small areas and extensive bed preparation. Each plowshare has four spiral blades turning at 245 rpm on a vertical shaft and digs up to 12 inches deep in hard, stony or unbroken ground. Soil goes to one side at a time, never both, so the operator controls exactly where it lands.

Heavy, and Balanced Accordingly

At 150 lbs the swivel plow hangs a lot of weight behind the tractor. BCS recommends a Bumper Weight Kit on the front, which balances the load, makes turning easier at the row end and helps lift the plowshares clear of the ground while swiveling. An adjustable depth wheel can limit the dig to as little as 6 inches for shallower work.

Swivel Plow Requirements

  • Weight: 150 lbs; Bumper Weight Kit recommended on every tractor
  • 749, 852, 853: 5.5″ wheel extensions required
  • 750 and 889: 5.5″ extensions and the HD 3-bolt bushing
  • 779: no further accessories beyond the weight kit
  • Not charted for 710, 718, 722, 732 or 739

Swiveling at the Row End

Lift the handlebars until both plowshares are clear of the soil before moving the lever; swiveling with a share still in the ground strains the mechanism and digs a hole at the headland. On a slope, finish each pass, stop, swivel, and then turn so the discharge always faces uphill. Attachment coverage is three years residential, one year commercial.

When the Standard Plow Is Enough

The single-share rotary plow is lighter, costs less and fits the 732 and 739 as well as the larger tractors. It suits flat ground where soil can always go right. Choose the swivel version for slopes, narrow sites or high-volume bed building where back-and-forth passes save time.
