BCS 30″ HD Combo Mower

Description

BCS 30″ HD Combo Mower

The heavy-duty combo mower is BCS’s answer to land that needs two kinds of mowing: reclaiming overgrown areas one week and keeping a lawn neat the next. Its single 30 inch blade is a fixed, quarter-inch-thick steel bar that cuts brush like a rotary cutter and still leaves a clean lawn finish.

Brush Cutter and Lawn Mower

The floating deck follows ground contours, and caster wheels support it for lawn work. In dense brush, the casters retract out of the way so the deck can push into growth. The blade is easy to sharpen, which matters on a machine that switches between grass and woody stems.

Cutting Height Depends on the Wheels

The mower has three cutting heights, and what they are depends on the tractor’s wheels. On 5×10 wheels they are 2.75, 2.25 and 1.75 inches. On 5×12 or 6.5×12 wheels they rise to 3.75, 3.25 and 2.75 inches. Owners who want a longer lawn cut should plan on the larger wheels.

Combo Mower Requirements

• 732: 5×12 wheel upgrade and 5.5″ wheel extensions
• 739: 5×12 wheels, 5.5″ extensions and a quick hitch or PTO extension
• 749, 779, 852, 853: quick hitch or PTO extension
• 750, 889: HD 2-bolt bushing
• Not charted for: 710, 718 or 722

Switching Between Jobs

After a session in brush, check the blade edge and the blade bolt before mowing lawn again, since a nicked edge leaves a ragged finish on grass. Lower the casters back to their lawn setting, clean wrapped stems from around the blade hub, and mow lawns when the grass is dry for the cleanest cut. Coverage is three years residential and one year commercial.

Combo, Brush or Lawn Mower

A dedicated brush mower is cheaper for rough ground alone, and the 38 inch lawn mower with catcher gives a finer, bagged finish on lawns. The combo mower makes sense where one attachment has to do both jobs on a 732 or larger tractor.
