Description

Scag RC 52 Inch Extreme Slope Remote Control Mower

The Extreme Slope version of Scag’s radio-controlled mower, with a fuel-injected 37 horsepower Vanguard BIG BLOCK behind a 52 inch deck. It is the most expensive machine in the entire catalog.

Built for Gradients Nothing Else Will Take

Where the low-profile machine trades on clearance, this one trades on slope. The larger engine is there to drive tracks and deck simultaneously on ground steep enough that traction and cutting compete for power. Embankments, levees, dam faces and quarry batters are the work, and the alternative on that ground is strimming by rope-access crews.

  • Cutting width: 52 inches
  • Engine: Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI, 37 HP
  • Control: radio remote, operator off machine
  • Configuration: extreme slope
  • Rated for commercial and municipal use

Line of Sight Is the Real Limit

A remote machine is controlled by someone who has to see it, and on a long embankment or over a crest that is the binding constraint rather than the mower’s capability. Planning where the operator stands, and how they move as the machine progresses, is as much a part of the job as the mowing and is what decides how long a site takes.

Recovery Needs Thinking About in Advance

A machine that stops partway up a steep embankment has to be got off it, and that is a considerably harder problem than mowing was. Knowing where a winch could anchor, and whether a vehicle can reach the top, is worth establishing before the machine goes on rather than while it is stuck.

Batteries in the Handset Matter

A controller that dies mid-slope is the one avoidable version of that problem.

Choosing Between the RC Machines

The SRC-52D-27CX-EFI is the low-profile version at a lower price, better suited to overhead-constrained sites than to the steepest ground. Both remove the operator from the slope, which is the point of either.
