Scag Liberty Z 36″ Kohler 20HP

Description

Scag Liberty Z 36 Inch Zero-Turn with 20 HP Kohler 7000 Series

This is the Kohler-powered 36 inch Liberty Z, running a 20 horsepower 7000 Series PRO engine. It offers two more horsepower than the Kawasaki version at a lower price, which makes it the value pick at the narrowest deck width.

What the 7000 Series Brings

Kohler’s 7000 Series PRO is the engine family that appears throughout the Liberty Z and Freedom Z ranges, and it is built for the duty cycle a homeowner actually imposes: a couple of hours a week, cold starts after a fortnight standing, and fuel that may have been in the tank longer than it should. Its filtration and lubrication are specified for that pattern rather than for continuous commercial hours.

• Cutting width: 36 inches, Hero cutter deck
• Engine: Kohler 7000 Series PRO, 20 HP
• Transaxles: dual hydrostatic
• Forward speed: up to 7 mph
• Deck construction: fully fabricated and welded, aluminium spindles
• Cutting height: adjustable by foot pedal lift

Fuel Left Standing Is the Homeowner’s Real Enemy

The commonest reason a domestic mower will not start in April is not the engine but what is in the tank. Fuel with ethanol in it draws moisture and separates over a winter, and the residue it leaves behind blocks passages that are tedious to clear. Either run the tank dry before storage or add a stabiliser in autumn, and the machine will start in spring the way it stopped in autumn.

Picking Among the 36 Inch Machines

This and the SZL-36H-20PX are the same output at the same price with different engine brands. The SZL-36H-18FR costs more for a Kawasaki at slightly lower output, which appeals to buyers who have a preference. If your access allows something wider, every step up the range cuts your mowing time proportionally.
