Description

Scag Cheetah II 72 Inch Zero-Turn with 38 HP Kawasaki FX1000 EFI

This is the Kawasaki FX1000 in the 72 inch Cheetah II, a fuel-injected 38 horsepower engine behind the widest Velocity Plus deck Scag builds on this chassis.

Suspension Matters More as the Machine Gets Bigger

A wider machine transmits more of the ground to the operator, because the deck and frame span more variation at once and the chassis cannot follow it. The coil-over operator platform with its five settings and the four-point iso-mounted seat above it are doing more work here than on a 61. Operators who never adjust the setting from the factory position are leaving most of that benefit unused.

  • Cutting width: 72 inches, Velocity Plus cutter deck
  • Engine: Kawasaki FX1000 EFI, 38 HP
  • Operator platform: coil-over suspension, five settings soft to firm
  • Seat: four-point iso-mounted
  • Fuel capacity: 13 gallons
  • Cutting height: 1.25 to 5 inches in quarter-inch increments

Setting the Platform to the Operator

The setting wants to match operator weight and ground condition rather than be left where it arrived. A light operator on a firm setting gets jarred; a heavy one on a soft setting bottoms the travel and gets the same result by the opposite route. Five minutes finding the right position on the first morning pays back across a season, and it should be reset when a different person takes the machine over.

Hot Fuel and a Blocked Cap Vent

Fuel expands through a working day and the tank cap has to vent to let it. A blocked vent produces a machine that runs fine cold and then starves and stalls once everything is hot, which sends owners looking at the fuel pump instead. Loosening the cap and finding the fault disappears is the diagnosis, and a new cap is the repair.

Where the Kawasaki Sits at 72 Inches

Against the Kohler SCZII-72V-38CV-EFI this is a small premium for equivalent output, and the choice is usually a parts-commonality decision. The SCZII-72V-40BV-EFI adds a 40 horsepower Vanguard for heavy growth and the SCZII-72V-37BV-EFI is the value entry. In Blackout finish this same machine is the SCZII-72V-38FX-EFI-SS.
