Vortexx describes the 4000XG Pro+ as the machine to choose when a washer will be on the job all day, every day. A Honda GX390 drives an AR RK Series triplex plunger pump through a gear reduction, delivering 4000 PSI at 4 GPM with the pump turning at half the speed of a direct drive setup.

Why Gear Drive Pays Off

Halving pump speed means half the plunger strokes for every hour of engine running. Vortexx says that extends the intervals between servicing the pump’s internal parts. For a contractor billing several hundred hours a year, fewer seal and valve rebuilds is the return on the gear drive.

Construction and Serviceability

The frame is one-piece welded aircraft grade aluminum with a u-shaped guard around the engine and pump, and cutouts for the oil drain and the engine recoil. The COOLFLO pump protection system and a commercial grade unloader protect the pump. A 4500 PSI gun with a 48 in lance and stainless steel quick connects, a 50 ft non-marking Uber-Flex hose, foam-filled tires and the patented Tow & Stow handle complete it.

Logging Pump Hours

The longer service intervals only pay off if the owner knows when service is due. Track hours on the machine with an hour meter or a simple log in the truck, and note each seal or valve service against the hour figure so the next one is planned rather than discovered.

Gear Drive Against the 4000HD

For part-time or seasonal use, the direct drive 4000HD gives the same output. The 4000HOT uses a gear reduction pump too, with a burner for hot water. Vortexx lists the 4.0 Roto Deck nozzle and its own TPL size for the 4000XG.
