Forty-eight inches is where the V-Ride II range changes character. This is the narrowest machine in the family to carry the Velocity Plus cutter deck and the larger drive system, and it is the width most crews settle on when their properties are a mix of open frontage and enclosed rear ground.

What Changes at 48 Inches

The deck becomes a three-blade Velocity Plus tri-plate weldment rather than the two-blade Advantage used at 32 and 36 inches, with cast-iron spindle housings on tapered roller bearings. Underneath, the drive steps up from 10 cc pumps and 12 ci motors to 12 cc and 14 ci, lifting ground speed from 8.5 to 10.5 mph. Tiger Eye monitoring also becomes available, which the two narrow models do not offer.

A 48 inch stand-on occupies about 61 inches with the chute down and under 50 inches folded, which means two fit across a standard landscape trailer with room for a walk-behind alongside. Crews running 52 and 61 inch machines quickly find the trailer, not the mowing, becomes the constraint on how much equipment reaches site. That is a real argument for the 48 that rarely appears on a specification sheet.

This Kawasaki FX version is the straightforward choice for general commercial mowing. If your fleet runs Kohler, the SVRII-48V-23CV is the carbureted equivalent at slightly less money and the SVRII-48V-25CV-EFI adds fuel injection.
