Scag AerStorm 30″ Kohler 23HP with Drop Seeder

Description

Scag AerStorm 30 Inch Stand-On Aerator with Drop Seeder

The 30 inch AerStorm fitted with a drop seeder, aerating and seeding in a single pass with the same 23 horsepower Kohler engine.

Seed Into the Holes You Just Made

Aeration and overseeding work far better together than separately, because the core holes give seed a protected pocket with soil contact on all sides. Doing both in one pass means the seed lands while the holes are still open and clean, which is the ideal condition. Done as two visits, the holes have usually started closing before the seed arrives.

A Drop Seeder Places Rather Than Throws

Drop seeding lays seed directly beneath the hopper in a defined band, where a broadcast spreader flings it in an arc. That gives precise edges against beds and paths and no seed where it is not wanted, at the cost of needing accurate overlapping passes. Missing a strip shows up as a bare line six weeks later.

Calibrate the Hopper Before the First Job

Seed varieties differ enough in size and weight that a setting correct for one delivers the wrong rate for another. Running a measured strip and weighing the output takes ten minutes and is the difference between a predictable result and an expensive guess repeated across a whole round.

Overlap Deliberately

A drop seeder leaves a bare line wherever passes do not meet, and it shows six weeks later rather than on the day.

Whether the Seeder Is Worth It

The AS30-23CV is the aerator alone for fifteen hundred less. If you already run a slit seeder such as the S22 machines, the separate tools may suit better; if aeration and overseeding are sold together as one service, this does both in one visit.
