Yanmar YRC104SCR 4-Foot Rotary Cutter with Slip Clutch

The YRC104SCR is Yanmar’s 4-foot rotary cutter with a slip clutch in the driveline. It cuts the same one-inch material and fits the same small tractors as the shear pin YRC104R, but it is built for ground where impacts are routine rather than occasional.

Why a Slip Clutch Matters

A slip clutch uses spring-loaded friction plates that slip momentarily when the blades hit something solid, then grip again, so the operator keeps cutting instead of stopping to replace a broken pin. On rocky pasture, old homesteads and land with buried fencing, that saves time and protects the gearbox from repeated shock. Blade tip speed is just under 10,000 feet per minute, enough for a clean cut on grass and weeds.

Deciding Between the Two 4-Foot Cutters

The YRC104SCR is the better choice where strikes are frequent; the YRC104R is simpler and cheaper for clean ground. The clutch plates should be slipped by hand at the start of each season, since plates that sit all winter can bond together. Larger slip clutch versions are the YRC205SCR and YRC206SCR.
