How Do You Mow?

Wright is unquestionably a leader in the commercial mower industry. Leading both in product quality and innovation is important to the company, whose ultimate goal is to help lawn care professionals succeed in their work.

The lineup of mowers produced by Wright includes 3 distinct types of mowers: the famous Wright Stander, the Wright Velke walk-behind, and the Wright zero-turn Z series. Each of these mower designs has unique advantages, and selecting the right one depends on how and where you mow.

Let's start with the familiar zero turns. These are the mowers that can zip around corners, turn on a dime, and collect grass in an optional collection system that mounts to the back of the mower. These mowers are also known as mid-mount mowers since the mowing deck is mounted between the front and rear tires, and is suspended under the frame of the mower. Wright mid-mount mowers feature the Wright AERO CORE deck design, which is both heavy-duty and able to produce an unparalleled perfectly-mowed-lawn result. The Wright zero-turns range from the entry-level commercial ZTO which comes in mowing deck widths of 48, 52, and 61 inches, to the medium-sized ZXL series, and up to the ZXT series, the largest and most powerful mowers in the lineup. All are built with high-quality components such as efficient Hydro-Gear transmissions, comfortable ride seats, large, high-traction drive tires, easy-to-use controls, and large-capacity fuel tanks.

The Wright Velkes are commercial-grade walk-behind mowers. The advantage of walk-behind mowers is their agility and lightness. The Velke can maintain its poise on hills and on sensitive turf, since the operator’s weight is not added to the overall weight of the machine. The Velke is also very comfortable to drive, with ergonomic and compact hand controls. The Wright Velke is available in mowing deck widths of 36 inches through 61 inches and in both fixed-deck and floating-deck configurations. One outstanding result of Wright innovation is the Velke Sulky, which is a wheeled operator platform that’s pulled behind the Velke. The Velke Sulky greatly decreases operator fatigue and can easily be detached or folded up for storage or transport. Each of the Velke models includes an integrated Velke Sulky latch for easy hook-up.

The Wright Stander is a best-of-both-worlds mower. Wright Manufacturing designed the original stand-on mower decades ago, and has led the way ever since in improving the Stander’s overall balance and efficiency. The Stander combines the agility and compact design of a walk-behind mower with the operator comfort and power of a zero-turn. The advantages of this type of mowing machine are many: the operator can duck down or lean to one side to avoid obstacles and to keep the mower well-balanced on slopes. The operator also has the advantage of being able to quickly jump off if the mower enters a dangerous position. The Stander’s small wheelbase enables good mowing in tight spaces, and for efficient storage and transport.

Whether you choose a zero-turn, walk-behind, or stand-on mower depends on your mowing application. There is more than one right way to mow, and many Wright options. One thing we know, Wright mowers help landscapers all over North America to increase their efficiency and their bottom line. We invite you to explore our catalogs of Wright mowers.
